Amaurys Grullon Verbally Assaults Community Activist And Calls Him The “N” Word

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, Amaurys Grullon aka the Bronx Native verbally assaulted a local community organizer which as a result led to him being physically restrained before, presumably, another type of assault took place. Just minutes after performing at “Behind enemy lines” open mic event, hosted at The South Bronx Swap Meet, members from the Take Back the Bronx collective left the area to find a bathroom. The group stopped in front of 112 Lincoln Ave, to wait for their team members.

At approximately 4:15 pm, the Bronx Native crossed the street and began interrogating one of the members. The transcript of the incident continues as follows:

Bronx Native(BN): We pay rent every month. Like what, are you, what questions do you want to ask me? What’s up?

Most Valuable Poet: Bro, I’m not here to ask you any questions.

BN: Bro you wanna talk all this shit online. Ask me the questions you wanna ask me right now cause you’re spreading false narratives bro.

MVP: I’m spreading false narratives? Hold up, Hold up. Ain’t nobody spreading false narratives. First of all, don’t come over here acting all tough and shit. That’s the first thing.

BN: The person who is on Instagram…(inaudible arguing) How many people have I stolen from?

MVP:  You stole from how many people?

BN: Who?! Who?! Bro, Who?

MVP: I gotta give a list, there’s a christmas list!

BN: Gimme somebody! Tell me somebody that I worked with that’s “gentrification” or whatever, tell me!

MVP: Keith Rubenstein, you ain’t never work with?

BN: When have I ever worked with him?

MVP: You never worked with Keith Rubenstein or Tomas Ramos?

BN: Never! Never. When have I ever worked with Keith Rubenstein?

MVP: When haven’t you worked with Keith Rubenstein?

BN: Me having this shop here, all homegrown. I opened this shop by myself…

MVP: By yourself?

BN: And my sister.

MVP: Oh now you wanna acknowledge her?

BN: (Steps closer and points hand in MVP’s face, while yelling) You guys are bringing up shit from 8 years ago… bro, do you even have a life bro? You’re on Instagram with twitter fingers. Come see me Bro!

MVP: Come see you for what?

BN: You’re tryin’ to talk mad shit online, you’re crazy, you guys sound insane, you don’t have a life bro. You’re obsessed with me!

MVP: Because you out here catering to gentrifiers and hipsters.

BN: Bro, who am I catering for? These open mics are for the community. Artists come here, up and coming artists from the Bronx yo…

MVP: So is that before or after you bite off their work?

BN: Bite off of who? You still haven’t said one person to me bro. And you’re saying that I’m working with Keith Rubenstein (yelling) When have I ever worked with Kieth Rubenstein?  Gimme the deets bro! Gimme the facts bro! Gimme the receipts. You said you got reciept’s… oh now you’re laughing? This Nxxxa is a fucking clown. (pointing at MVP)

MVP: Oh now we can use the N word?

Witnesses: Ooooo, wow, whoa.

BN: (talking to a random waiter who stepped outside to see what was happening) He’s talking mad shit bro, saying I’m mean. That I’m over here doing stuff- like no bro. No one’s doing that, you guys are mistaken. You guys are false. Look I came over here as a man bro and you still haven’t given me one receipt.

MVP: You came over here acting all tough…

BN: Cause you were across the street looking at me… mad corny.

MVP: But you’re the one coming over here, acting like a tough guy…

BN: (yelling) Yes! Because you are on Instagram talking mad stuff.

MVP: You work with Michael Brady who’s a well known fucking cop caller. You run with Bitch asses and gentrifiers. You do! You have no credibility.

At this point, The Bronx Native was less than an arm’s length from MVP’s body so another community member stepped in between them to de-escalate the situation. Another person, associated with The Bronx Native proceeds to grab The Bronx Native by the arm, pulling him back, then places an arm over his chest to restrain him from the group.

This deeply troubling incident highlights several facts that the Bronx Community and specifically the “Black” Bronx Community should not take lightly. The Bronx Native Shop has built their brand off of local creativity and when someone from the community used their god given creative talent to voice their concern about his business practices he proceeded to engage in intimidation tactics and hate speech.

Boycott Bronx Native.
